Pawn shops are licensed by the State of Ohio to make collateral loans on non-titled merchandise. All loans are held for 3 months from the date of loan or last paid up-to date and a 30 day notice is sent to warn the loan customer to catch up on the charges. Our record holder had an active pawn for over 22 years( the customer stated that he felt that we had a better safe storage plan than his bank.) Our state license also allows us to buy items from our customers. A state approved ID is required to make a loan, trade or sell an item. All transactions are confidential! All items are reported to the City of Dayton Police department through Leads-On-Line.
Our pawn shop was started by Leonard and Charles Rich in the 1920s(Lenny’s Loans).
In 1967, Rich’s moved from 108 S. Jefferson Street to 25 E. Second Street in order to make way for the new Dayton Convention Center.
The employees David, Steve and Mark Bertke and Russell Brock Jr. took over in January 1982. Russell has since retired and passed on. Steve and Mark passed in 2018.
Rich’s joined the Better Business Bureau in 1984.
In 1987 Rich’s moved to 704-708 Watervliet Ave, in the heart of the Belmont Business District of Dayton, Ohio.
